Easy Mother's Day Crafts She Will Love

Updated: May 3, 2021

Mother's day is right around the corner and with the quarantine still in affect in most areas it's going to be a little difficult to go shopping for mom. Usually kids make crafts in school for this special day but that's not an option now either for most people. So make the most of your at-home time and create some special crafts or gifts that mom will love.

Some of these are using recycled materials that you probably already have around the house too so no need to run out for supplies.

Being a mom myself, I just love personal handmade gifts. I will take something handmade over pricey store bought stuff any day! Pair any of these little crafts with a home cooked meal mom doesn't have to make and you will be winning at Mother's Day this year!

1.) Book-Card Filled with Artwork

Now I originally made this with my daughter for father's day a few years ago and it was a huge hit. We are always doing crafts, coloring and painting in my house so the projects tend to pile up. This is a great way to use up some of those favorite pages you have laying around.

I used a piece of colorful paper for the cover and two pieces of white paper for the pages. Then I glued some paintings my daughter did on one set and let her draw/ color the other pages. A really cute thing to add is a list of questions that you ask your child about Mom. Write down the questions and answers in the card book (no cheating!).To finish off the project let your child decorate the cover and pages with stickers, crayons or whatever their little hearts desire. I used a basic stapler to bind the book together.

Here are ten examples of questions you could ask your child for this project:

  • What is Mommy really good at?

  • How do you know Mom loves you?

  • What makes you proud of your mom?

  • What is your favorite thing to do with mom?

  • What makes mom happy?

  • How does mom make you laugh?

  • What is something that is super silly that mom does?

  • What is mom's favorite food?

  • Where is your mom's favorite place to go?

  • What is your favorite memory with mom?

2.) Paper Hand-print Bouquet

No need to buy expensive flowers that are going to wither away in a week. Have your little one make a paper bouquet that mom can keep for years. Simply have your child do some hand-prints with paint on paper with whatever colors they want.

Then help them cut each hand print out making 'hand flowers'. Depending on how thin the paper is you might want to double it up so it holds itself up better. Now using some straws, pipe-cleaners or rolled up paper into a tube, glue the hand flowers onto each stick.

Once your bouquet is complete you can put the flowers into a cup, vase or a popsicle flower can which is the next project. Another option is to glue or tape them to a big piece of paper to hang up on the fridge.

3.) Popsicle Stick Can

For this craft you need popsicle sticks, a hot-glue gun, an empty can and any decorations you want like stickers or ribbon. Help your child glue the popsicle sticks to the side of the can going all the way around. Next let them decorate the project with their embellishments and make it a truly customized piece for mom.

If you made the paper flowers in project #2 of this post you can use this can to display them in. It can also be used for holding pens, kitchen utensils, craft supplies or use your imagination!

4.) Popsicle Stick Picture Frame

Using those popsicle sticks again, you can make a cute little frame that mom can enjoy. Using the hot-glue gun put the frame together in a square or rectangle shape. Then using some recycled cardboard or some thick paper attach a piece to the back for support. I cut up an empty cracker box and used the cardboard from that for the back.

Find an adorable picture of your munchkin to glue in the frame or if you don't have one available let your child draw a picture of them with mom for the center.

Attach a piece of string to the back using hot glue again to create a hanger and then decorate the frame. My daughter chose lots of cute stickers or they could also color or paint.

If you made any of these crafts leave a comment below. Which ones did you try and how did the kiddos like making them?
